Brazil is the largest country in South America, and one of the most appealing countries for tourists. Brazil is synonymous with Carnival, football, dance and music, Amazonians, endless beaches and the famous girl from Ipanema. So it's unsurprising that it is a favourite honeymoon destination for many couples.
To discover everything Brazil has in store for you, here are some place you can visit for your honeymon :
Fortaleza
A walk around the city centre will familiarise you with its history. You could visit Fortaleza de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, a fortress constructed on the birth place of the city, and the Palacio de la Luz, a beautiful late 18th century building, which was the seat of government. And at dusk you can't beat a stroll along avenida Beira Mar until you arrive at the Puente de los Ingleses, where you can see the most beautiful sunset in the city.
You should also visit the former Public Prison. The cells have been converted into stalls where you can buy local craft goods. Also, upstairs you will find the Museum of Popular Art and the Mineralogy Museum.
Manaos
Manaos is the capital of the Amazon region, the largest Brazilian province situated in the middle of the Amazon Rainforest, the city is known for its natural beauty. One of its many attractions are its waterfalls, such as Paricatuba, located on the right side of the Río Negro or the waterfall of love, situated in the Guedes gully, only accessible by boat after a short hike through the forest.
100 km further up the river from Manaos, on the Río Negro, you will reach Anavilhanas, the largest river archipelago in the world, composed of some 400 islands covered in native forest; they form a veritable natural green labyrinth. Although you might prefer to visit the Adolpho Ducke Botanical Gardens. Situated in a 100km ecological reserve, it is the biggest in the world and it is home to an infinite number of flora and fauna.
Rio de Janeiro
Known as the City of Splendour, Rio de Janeiro has internationally acclaimed attractions. Everyone has heard of its famous carnival, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer Statue and its famous Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. And if this isn't enough, you can also visit the Maracana, one of the biggest football stadiums in the world, known by many as "the temple of soccer gods".
